World Cup Group G - Good Riddance to Disgusting Togo (Togo 0 - Switzerland 2)

I'm glad this result turned out this way. The antics of the Togolese players disgusts me. For those of you who are unaware, the Togolese players had threatened to walk out of the World Cup tournament if they were not promised a king's ransom in wages to play for their country. Mind you, many of these are professional players playing in some of the biggest profesional leagues of the world, and already earning many times the salaries of their fellow countrymen.

As for the game, Switzerland started the game full of endeavor, signalling their intent to win this game. They got their reward on the 16th minute with a well crafted goal that Alexander Frei placed into the net. After that they seemed to sit back allowing Togo back into the game. Kader Mohammed was Togo's main threat, eluding the Swiss defence on numberous occasions, but failing to find the net nor beat the keeper.

The second half started the same way the as the first, with Switzerland taking the early iniative to push forward, but failing to score. It wasn't till late in the second half that Barnetta sealed the victory with a sweetly struck goal.

The result means Togo are out of the World Cup. They still have a game to play against the French, but whether they turn up for that game remains to be seen.

They (Togo) destroyed themselves with all the trouble. :( I regret it.

I've seen your blog, and it looks nice and neat. I would love to do a link exchange, but unfortunately I have no idea what is written in it.
