World Cup Group B - England Avoids Germany

Sweden 1 - England 2

This seriously sucks donkey balls. I had initially wanted to watch the Paraguay and Trinidad & Tabago game but the feed was so bad I could hardly see the players, let alone the ball.

So I switched to the England game, dreading yet another boring game by them, but was rewarded by a superb Joe Cole goal. It looked abit of a fluke though, but a beautiful fluke. The game was, as expected rather dull, with both sides lacking any attacking flair, taking long shots from outside the penalty area.

During half time, everything fell apart...literally. All of a sudden, my internet connection dropped and I couldn't get the feed back. Now I really feel stupid for not subscribing to cable, even though the prices are ridiculous. I seriously hope the internet connection picks up in the next few days, especially when the next round begins over the weekend.

As for the scores, I'm reduced to watching the scores on livescore.com. England and Sweden played to a 2-2 draw on what looked like an exciting ending with 2 goals scored in the last 5 minutes. Marcus Allback had equalised after the break to level the scores. Steven Gerrard gave England in the 85th minute only for Larsson to level the scores on the 90th minute.

The draw means England wins the group avoiding the hosts in the next round. Sweden also advances to the next round, facing Germany in the last 16.

Paraguay 2 - Trinidad & Tobago 0

The results here didn't matter. Paraguay was already eliminated, and the results in the other group meant that regardless of a win here for T&T, they would have joined Paraguay anyway. At least the South Americans restored some pride with a win to take home.
