World Cup Quarter Finals - England in Penalty Heartbreak (AET England 0 - Portugal 0) *Portugal wins 3-1 on Penalties

The first half was a sterile affair. Good thing I had a horrible backache and a high fever, so I went to bed without wasting my time watching 2 teams playing dull football.

Unfortunately it seems it's my loss. The second seemed action-packed with England down to 10 men after Rooney was sent off. What particularly interest me was how Rooney got himself sent off. Apparently Manchester United teammate was at the heart of it all, remonstrating to the referee to do it.

The question here is how it would affect their friendship as well as relationship in the upcoming season. Or is it part of Ronaldo's plan to get himself into the bad books of Ferguson, since he has openly expressed the desire to leave United for Real Madrid.

Anyway, the 10 men England held Portugal, and penalties ensued. Predictably, England lost yet again on penalties. Despite their brave performance, they had no one to blame. The entire tournament, they played dull, conservative and sometimes negative football. The tournament is definitely better without them, especially Eriksson.
