Pussies

Chelski lost 3-0 to Middlesboro in an earlier game and judging from our form these 2 seasons, you would expect us to do likewise. Well, we tried our best to play to form, but Portsmouth obviously did not read the same script. Somehow we came out 3-1 winner in a game we hardly deserved a point.

Despite winning, this was probably our worst game this entire season. Worse than the 4-1 drubbing at the Riverside, worse than the 0-0 draw at Burton Albion. The only reason why we actually won this game was because Portsmouth played like a bunch of pussies. They had so many new players and played like 11 strangers on the pitch. If we played them in a couple of months with the same passion and desire as today, I have no doubts the result would be reversed.

If you don't believe what's been typed here, read the statistics. 16 corners to Portsmouth and 2 to us. 15 shots on goal for them and only 6 for us, of which 4 were on target and 3 went in. In fact, go watch the game and wept.

As usual, we have no midfield. The Fletcher/Giggs and Fletcher/Smith combination doesn't work, hasn't worked and probably wouldn't ever work. We were giving the ball away the entire game. Ronaldo, despite 2 really well taken goals and a freekick that rattled the bar, was absolutely hopeless at finding a teammate. Same said for Park, Rooney and Ruud.

I shudder to think what would happen if an injury happens to Edwin VDS. Right now, for the record, I'm stating that I have absolutely no confidence in Tim Howard. Some of his clearances were horrible, and for some inexplicable reason, he chooses to punch most balls coming his way rather than catch them. He made some really good saves in the game, but his lack of confidence scares the shit outta me.

We have no left back. Since Mr Dependable (Dennis Irwin) left this club, we have no left back. O'Shea looked good for one season then faded away. Heinze looked really good until he got injuried. After his injury, we were screwed in that position. Silves and Evra are pathetic. Richardson had his moments, but not enough. Fortune is injuried. I only hope is Bardsley, but he plays better on the right. So effectively we're screwed until Heinze returns, hopefully he returns as the same guy.

Perhaps the only bright spot today is that Rio, Brown and Vidic played their socks off. But of course if the defenders had a better than average game, it only goes to show what a crap team performance it was. The good thing the keeper isn't the man of the match.

I can only hope to put this week behind me and focus on next week. Bring on Liverpool, and let's hope they don't find their scoring boots!
