Today I feel sorry for..... (Manchester United 4 - Wigan 0

There are so many things to feel sorry about this Carling Cup final.

Wigan - They didn't deserve this scoreline. It was wicked and cruel. Wigan is a truly honest team, and genuinely one of the good guys and underdogs everyone loves to root for. I really feel sorry that they have to be at the end of a thrashing in what is the biggest moment in their short club history.

Paul Jewell - This is his fourth consecutive 4-0 loss as a manager facing United. In fact in his short managerial career, he's only faced United 4 times. Twice with Bradford and twice this season with Wigan and it all ended the same way.

Alan Smith - Still feel sorry for the injury he sustained last week. Nice gesture by the United players to win this one for him. And really feel sorry that he has a nickname called Smudge. What kind of weak lame ass nickname is that?

Rooney - Feel sorry that he couldn't be the first guy to get a hat-trick in a league cup final.

Ronaldo - I've already stopped feeling angry with him. Now I just feel sorry for him and all that wasted talent. For a moment in the build up to the second goal, I really thought he had finally grown up. Unfortunately that illusion become blurred when he stupidly took off his shirt after scoring the third goal and getting a yellow. And shattering of the illusion was complete when moments later he decided to showboat when we were 4-0 up, rubbing salt into the Wigan players. It was absolutely disgusting and ungentlemanly behaviour. Kudos to Giggs and JOS for giving him a good talking to, but I doubt he'd ever grow up.

Manchester United - I truly feel sorry for my beloved club. There was a point in time where this competition meant nothing and the lowest of priority. In fact there was a time this competition was actually an irritation to our schedule. We've always used this competition to blood our young guns. It's sad that in today's Manchester United, the Worthless Cup has become so instrumental to keep club morale high and more importantly to keep Ferguson's job.

Smith

Liverpool broke an 85 year jinx and beat us 1-0 in the FA Cup, while we played like shit. We had no midfield. No support for the front players. In truth Liverpool were the better team. But at the end of the day it all didn't matter....Smith broke his ankle.

I couldn't tell how bad the injury was from the looks of horror in Ruud's face when he saw it and the urgency of Neville and EVD to get the medic on the pitch said it all. It looked bad. In fact it looked terrible.

I was with the guys, namely, Cow, Matt and God at Queens watching the game and had to turn away the moment I saw Ruud's expression. I knew it was horrible. Probably one of the worst any present day Manchester United player has seen. It reminded me of a certain Conventry player named Dave Busst who broke his leg almost 10 years ago at OT. This time there wasn't blood on the pitch, but the time the medics took Smith off the pitch tells the story.

I've never been an admirer of Smith in the centre of midfield, but I sincerely feel sorry for him. Smith is a soldier who gives his all when he's on the pitch. He's a fighter, the same can't be said for alot of his current teammates. Best wishes on your recovery, Smith. Your fighting spirit will be missed.

I just hope his injury is not as bad as it seems. I feel gutted and quite frankly shaken from the looks on the players faces when they saw the injury.

And excuse me while I go vomit my guts out......

Pussies

Chelski lost 3-0 to Middlesboro in an earlier game and judging from our form these 2 seasons, you would expect us to do likewise. Well, we tried our best to play to form, but Portsmouth obviously did not read the same script. Somehow we came out 3-1 winner in a game we hardly deserved a point.

Despite winning, this was probably our worst game this entire season. Worse than the 4-1 drubbing at the Riverside, worse than the 0-0 draw at Burton Albion. The only reason why we actually won this game was because Portsmouth played like a bunch of pussies. They had so many new players and played like 11 strangers on the pitch. If we played them in a couple of months with the same passion and desire as today, I have no doubts the result would be reversed.

If you don't believe what's been typed here, read the statistics. 16 corners to Portsmouth and 2 to us. 15 shots on goal for them and only 6 for us, of which 4 were on target and 3 went in. In fact, go watch the game and wept.

As usual, we have no midfield. The Fletcher/Giggs and Fletcher/Smith combination doesn't work, hasn't worked and probably wouldn't ever work. We were giving the ball away the entire game. Ronaldo, despite 2 really well taken goals and a freekick that rattled the bar, was absolutely hopeless at finding a teammate. Same said for Park, Rooney and Ruud.

I shudder to think what would happen if an injury happens to Edwin VDS. Right now, for the record, I'm stating that I have absolutely no confidence in Tim Howard. Some of his clearances were horrible, and for some inexplicable reason, he chooses to punch most balls coming his way rather than catch them. He made some really good saves in the game, but his lack of confidence scares the shit outta me.

We have no left back. Since Mr Dependable (Dennis Irwin) left this club, we have no left back. O'Shea looked good for one season then faded away. Heinze looked really good until he got injuried. After his injury, we were screwed in that position. Silves and Evra are pathetic. Richardson had his moments, but not enough. Fortune is injuried. I only hope is Bardsley, but he plays better on the right. So effectively we're screwed until Heinze returns, hopefully he returns as the same guy.

Perhaps the only bright spot today is that Rio, Brown and Vidic played their socks off. But of course if the defenders had a better than average game, it only goes to show what a crap team performance it was. The good thing the keeper isn't the man of the match.

I can only hope to put this week behind me and focus on next week. Bring on Liverpool, and let's hope they don't find their scoring boots!

Today We Remember Munich

Just a reminder that 48 years ago, we suffered a tragedy.

Today we remember......

Happy 21st Birthday Ronaldo!

4-2. What an exciting game with Fulham. Typical of Manchester United to trade blows with the opponents. You score, we score. Against a tougher opponent the scoreline would have been so different, but luckily we got Fulham.

Once again there was no midfield. When you have Smith and Richardson in the centre, you're going to let the opponents have plenty of the ball, and that's what we did. Why we bought two defenders when we needed a midfielder is beyond me.

And once again our defenders look horrible against forwards who can head the ball, although I don't entirely blame them. Our fullbacks were not doing their job, namely Neville and Evra. None of our fullbacks could or would pressure when the opponent has the ball, allowing the crosses in. The blame of the second goal was sorely on both Neville and Evra. Neville did not cover Park. He was caught napping when Bridge came barging through with only Park covering him. When the cross came in, I wonder what in the world Evra was thinking. He let Helguson out jump him.....who says white men can't jump?

Don't get me wrong. I like Evra, he's an honest player. Except everytime I see him play, I see an althete and not a footballer. He's fools gold going forward and terrible when defending, which should be his bread and butter. How many times did he let Rosenior cross the ball? There was absolutely no pressure put on the crosser. Had McBride or Helguson been more clinical, we probably wouldn't have won the game.

On to the positives, at least we came out with a win. Our attacking play is really brilliant. Everytime we go forward, we look threatening. If not for some really good goalkeeping and some poor decisions made by our forwards, we would have romped away, especially in the first half.

Ronaldo, Ruud, Saha and Park were brilliant. If they continue playing with such chemistry, no defence in the world can stop them. Ronaldo in particular was spectacular, with two brilliantly taken goals. Definitely my man of the match. Park too scored his first premiership goal. Not much to complain about, except for the fullbacks.

And to end the post, an interesting statistic. Brown took over the captaincy when Neville left the field. A future captain in the making? Personally I prefer Rooney, but he may be a bit too temperamental for the job.

Burnt by Bentley

What a waste of time. Good thing I missed the entire first half. Went to the 24hrs kopitam only to find out they were showing the Liverpool-Birmingham game instead. Came home and took 30 mins trying to get a live feed of the game. I did finally manage to get it going via DragonTV, a chinese channel. Love the internet!

We were absolutely awful. Ferguson's an idiot. How could he have played Vidic the entire game is beyond me. Midway through the second half, he was exhausted. The guy hasn't played for a couple of months and suddenly he plays 2 full games in a space of 3 days.

I take back everything I said about Rio being a midfielder. He's not. He was totally clueless. Fletcher had to do the work of 2 men, no wonder he looked like shit. In fact the entire team looked like shit with the exception of Saha and Ruud.

If the midfield doesn't improve, we're going to be humiliated by the likes of Fulham and Portsmouth in the next couple of games. Here's my suggestion, play Park in the centre. He's done it before with PSV, no reason why he can't do it here.

On a day where Chelski and Liverfool both dropped points, we played like shit.
